Drum Lesson 004 – FLIP IT! (Beat Displacement)
Todays lesson we look at moving the bass drum from the down beat of 1 to the & in a 8th note pattern, this in turn moves the other bass drum and snare strokes along to sit on the &. Simple but tricky to get your head round at first. Your goal is to move between a regular basic rock grove and the displaced one every 2 bars. Keeping the quarter note pulse going is key to knowing where you are as when doing this with other musician it can become a challenge.
